About the event
"But what if the behavior isn't the problem?"
"In Food Mad, dietitian Victoria Schonwald reframes eating disorders through a nutritional neurobiology lens, showing how under-nutrition alters brain function in ways that make fear louder, thinking narrower, and recovery feel impossible, even when someone 'knows better.' Drawing on neuroscience, clinical practice, and lived systems experience, this book explains why logic alone does not work in a starved brain, why weight and blood tests can be misleading, and why adequate nourishment is not a reward or final step, but the foundation of recovery itself."
Our Mini Book Club is back, facilitated by co-host Lauren Muhlheim, Psy.D., FAED, CEDS-C (she/her). Join us as we explore ideas and themes from the brand new, 2026 publication by Victoria Schonwold, NZRD "Food Mad: The Nutritional Neuroscience of a Starved Brain." Together, we’ll explore themes from the book, share insights from our practices, and discuss ways to frame client care through this lens. Come for thoughtful discussion, leave with a deeper sense of community and perspective!
Attendees are welcome to read some or all of the book, or join in the learning through discussion! "Food Mad" is available for purchase at https://www.theeatclinic.com/foodmad or free/discounted with a Kindle membership.
