1. Does the Los Angeles Eating Disorder Collective provide continuing education credits for eating disorder professionals in California?

Yes. Some of our larger annual events offer continuing education credits. These events combine clinical training with community-building activities and are designed to provide high-quality, affordable training for eating disorder professionals. We focus on topics including weight stigma education, creating affirming care spaces for marginalized communities, and intersectional approaches to treatment.

2. How can eating disorder professionals in Los Angeles connect with other clinicians through LAEDC?

We host monthly small-group meetups in welcoming, low-pressure environments. These gatherings are designed for eating disorder professionals (therapists, dietitians, advocates, and other specialists) to consult on cases, share resources, and build a supportive peer network. We also organize 2-3 larger annual events each year that bring together clinicians, students, and non-clinical allies for both education and connection.

3. What makes LAEDC's approach to eating disorder education different from traditional training programs?

We approach eating disorder education through a social justice lens and prioritize intersectional perspectives. A core component of our work is educating providers about weight stigma and fatphobia, equipping them to create safer, more affirming spaces for people in all bodies. We are particularly focused on reaching and supporting marginalized communities, including those identifying as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent. Our goal is to make specialized training accessible to clinicians who have historically lacked access to eating disorder education.

4. Can I get involved with LAEDC if I'm not an eating disorder specialist?

Yes. Our larger annual events are open to clinicians, students, and non-clinical allies. We are expanding our offerings to include specialized training for professionals in adjacent fields (such as primary care, schools, and mental health) who may encounter individuals struggling with disordered eating. Our monthly clinical meetups are primarily for professionals currently working with eating disorder clients, while our larger events welcome a broader audience.

5. How can I get involved with LAEDC beyond attending events?

There are many ways to stay involved with LAEDC beyond attending events, including volunteering at events, joining our mailing list, following us on social media, and applying for leadership or board roles when openings become available.

Our current leadership team and Board of Directors will remain in place through December 2027. We offer volunteer opportunities for events, and the interview process for the next two-year leadership term will begin in June 2027, with positions starting in January 2028.

6: How can I apply to speak at a LAEDC event?

We will open a call for proposals with designated topic areas in summer 2026.

7: How much do LAEDC events cost? / Is there a membership fee?

There is a registration fee for CEU events, with reduced rates available for students and pre-licensed clinicians. Scholarships are also available, and we are working toward offering membership options in 2027.

8: Where are LAEDC events held in Los Angeles?

LAEDC is committed to making our training and educational events as accessible as possible. To support this, we host our monthly meetups and larger events at rotating locations throughout Los Angeles. In 2025, our events were held in Burbank, Culver City, Santa Monica, Downtown LA, and Sherman Oaks.

9: Does the Los Angeles Eating Disorder Collective offer virtual or online continuing education?

We offer a few online meetups each year and are in the process of developing a library of recorded trainings that will be available on our website.

10: How do I become a sponsor of LAEDC?

Our next annual sponsorship drive will open in August 2026 for the 2027 year. Additional details can be found on the sponsorship page of our website.
